Our Story
George Ade (1866–1944) was a prominent American humorist, playwright, and journalist, renowned for his "fables in slang" and satirical works that captured the essence of American life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His literary contributions earned him the nickname "the Aesop of Indiana." Upon his death, Ade bequeathed Hazelden to Newton County. Over the decades, the George Ade Memorial Association undertook several restoration projects to preserve the property. However, the association disbanded in 2018, and as of 2019, plans were underway to restore Hazelden for public use.
The nursing facility continues Ade's legacy by providing quality care to residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Their mission emphasizes excellence in care and services.
